Carter:
*Tends to get an arm out from his swaddle at night, and tends to scratch his head. Sad face. But, he's getting better at not doing that. Thank goodness.*Carter is growing - and FAST! He is out of his 3 month clothes and into his 6 months - and he will probably be out of those soon.
Madilyn:
*She always seems to get a hand out of her swaddle pretty easy at night, and once she does, she likes to suck her thumb to get to sleep. The other fingers tend to cover the rest of her face which is pretty funny. (Maybe I can sneak a picture of it for Funny Friday.)*Madilyn still talks like a zombie from time to time - and we think she gets delusional and sees things when we feed her. I have some videos of that which might have to make their way to YouTube soon.
Both:
*They both have found their feet - though Carter is able to keep a much better grip on his.*They are both close to rolling over. They both roll on their sides pretty easily but then they stop. So we are hoping to see them roll over soon.
*They are both eating solid foods. Carter is still a champ at eating, and Madilyn.. well.. she eats more than she wears. She is a social butterfly though, so she tends to talk and eat at the same time.
*Both babies have become very aware of the cats. When the cats walk around the babies, they put their hands out and pet them as best they can. Thankfully, the babies haven't started pulling their hair or tails, but I fear that may be in our future.
*They are both starting to reach for our faces and feel around. I keep telling Rob that pretty soon they'll be pulling on his chin hairs..
*While they both enjoy playing on their mats and reaching for their toys, they have started to like really like sitting up. We've been using their bumbo seats more to let them watch Little Einsteins and play with toys. And, they also like to be in their high chairs and hang out in the kitchen while we get food ready.
*We just started to get them sleeping in their cribs not fully swaddled. In the past they have been fully bundled, but have started getting hands and/or arms out. So, this week we have started them with an arm out already to see if they'd fall asleep with it out. So far, so good. It probably helps that they are tired - but even still, I was expecting to have to wake up a few times during the night to crying babies. Soon we will try just putting them in their cribs without anything holding them down, and our hope is that since we are weaning them off of their swaddle, they will go to bed just fine without it! (But we will happily take any prayers and well wishes you feel like sending our way!)
Happy 5 Months, Madilyn and Carter! We love your sweet faces!
