Belly Laughs :)

These past few weeks have been fun for me because Madilyn and Carter have become so much more aware of the world around them, as well as becoming more vocal. It's funny because when the babies were born and up til a few weeks ago, anytime we would try to get them to look at each other they would both turn their heads in the opposite direction. It's like they didn't want to believe there was another baby in the house. But, in the past two weeks, they have really discovered each other and don't completely ignore each other. Here is a funny little video of the two of them - I'm burping Madilyn while they coo at each other.

Another thing the babies have been doing these past few weeks is laughing! Of course, they've been smiling and cooing and acting happy, but they haven't really had a belly laugh. I've been lucky enough to get them on camera laughing -- and Madilyn's video I'm showing was really her first big laugh for us. These just make me so happy! Enjoy!

Family Visit and Wedding

This past weekend, we made a trip to Austin and Gatesville to visit my family and go to one of my best friend's weddings. We left Friday afternoon, and headed to Austin first. We stayed at my sister Carol's house. She was very excited to have us come in because she hadn't met the babies yet. My mom and sister Claire also drove in from Lubbock to visit with us - and to watch the babies on Saturday night while we went to the wedding. Another fun surprise was that my brother Jon, his wife Amber, and their two kids made it in to Austin too for the night. (They had been in New Braunfels, and decided to make a pit stop on their way back to Midland!) Here are a few pictures!

On Saturday, we had a really nice lunch on the lake before Jon and his family had to leave. We went back to Carol's house to feed the babies - and repack all of our stuff! Then we hit the road for Gatesville to our hotel. As soon as we arrived, my friends Kelli, her husband Andrew, and my friend Ashley were getting out of their car too. It was great getting to see them - and to have the room right next to them so we could visit! We relaxed a little bit before getting ready for Janae's wedding. The babies were in pretty good moods - considering the amount of driving we had already done.. But we went ahead and had my mom and Claire start feeding them early because we didn't think they'd be happy waiting until their usual bedtime feeding. I was happy to get a text from my mom not long after we left telling us that the feeding went great, and that the babies were sound asleep. The wedding itself was great. It was so nice getting to see some familiar faces and to reminisce on some old memories. Here are a few pics from the wedding:

The next morning, the babies had a photo session. Janae and her new hubby Daniel stopped by to meet the babies, and we had to get some pictures with Grandma! Here are a few of those shots!

Needless to say, we had quite a busy weekend and although we had fun, we were happy to be home. I think the babies agree, and I am happy to say we are back on our regular schedule! :) To wrap up this already long post, here are two GREAT shots of our car ride home.

3 months!

Wow. Another month has gone by. It's true what they say about time going by quickly. Here's what's going on in our lives lately..

Madilyn:
*She really enjoys being social (surprise, surprise) and loves talking and smiling.
*Still makes the funniest faces -- and I think Rob will agree, she gets that from Mommy.. :)

Carter:

*He has become much harder to put down for a nap, even though he is very tired. He will fight it, and becomes quite a grump. We are working on getting him down for naps - but every day is different.
*Tends to be a squirmy worm when we try to feed him sometimes..
*Has another nickname - Carter-man!

Both:
*They are both getting a pretty good grip on holding their heads up. Carter is sometimes a bit of a bobble head, but in all fairness, his head is bigger than Madilyn's..
*They both usually like taking a bath. It's really the taking them out of the water and getting them dried off and into new clothes that they don't like.
*They are both sleeping really well at night. Once we finish their 8 o'clock feeding and put them in their cribs, we rarely hear a peep from them. (Well, minus the fact that they like to "say goodnight" in oo's and aa's.) The past few nights, they have been sleeping until about 5am. So, we feed them and they sleep until sometime around 8am. (Yay!!)
*They enjoy playing on their mats. They are really able to focus on the toys that hang down, and reach their arms up to hit them.
*They enjoy sucking on their fingers - or sometimes fists - which makes them extra drooly!
*They love to talk to us!
*They love to smile at us!

Happy 3 months, babies! Mommy and Daddy love you!
