Madilyn walking!

So, there are only TWO days remaining before the babies turn ONE.. But before I post about that, I wanted to share a quick video of Madilyn walking! She's not quite to Carter's level of walking yet, but he's been practicing a lot longer than she has. She has been walking without us holding her hands and can take about 4 to 5 steps before falling. But, she is usually walking from one thing to another, so she knows those 4 to 5 steps will get her there. Here are two quick videos showing her walking. The first one shows her at the beginning of walking without holding onto our hands. And the second one was taken a little later, and makes us laugh at the end!

Big Boy!

Well, today was the day. We got Carter his first real big boy haircut. We had his bangs trimmed a little over a month ago, but his hair has been growing non-stop. So, we decided it was time for a cut all the way around. Carter did a great job during the whole thing. He did great on his trim a while back too, so I wasn't worried but Rob wasn't too sure since it was going to be his whole head. Anyways - yes, he did great and he is really starting to look like a soon-to-be one year old little boy! And yes, we did save some of his locks! :) I'll have to take a few more pictures now that we're home to get some better shots - but here's his haircut!

Nice big ol' cheesy grin in the mirror!

Despite what this looks like in the second picture, he was enjoying his haircut :)

Meeting a Cow

Today we had a lunch date at Chick-fil-a with my friend from high school, Michelle and her two year old daughter Lily. They just moved to Houston from Dallas, and it's so nice to have another friendly face near us. Anyways, the babies got to meet the Chick-fil-a cow. Rob and I weren't sure how they would react to it - because we didn't do pictures with Santa or the Easter Bunny, so this was really their first experience with a big fluffy moving thing! When the cow came up to them, they just stared and smiled, and then gave him high fives. It was so cute! :) Here are three pictures from today!

We've got a walker!!

I should have posted this sometime last week, but being a Mom to twins does keep me busy.. Plus, we've been a little busy around here anyway. BUT, I am happy to report that we have a walker!!! Carter is able to take several steps on his own and walk around pretty easily. Of course, he still falls but he has pretty good balance. He still has to have something to pull himself up to get into that standing position, but once he is up, he is up! Here's a video taken on April 6th, and he really is already walking better now than shown in this video from just two weeks ago.

Madilyn is still doing a really good job of walking if she is holding onto your hand, but even recently she has been a little more brave and will take a step or two on her own. She also is just holding on with one hand which is an improvement from the two she made us hold before. I don't think she is too far behind Carter on the walking - especially since she will be seeing him do it now! Here's Madilyn in action!

Easter Sunday

This past weekend was Easter Sunday, and it was a busy day! After going to church in the morning, we headed over to Wes and Sherri's house. (Rob's brother and sister-in-law). It was great because the babies slept in the car almost the whole way there, and we even drove around a little longer to make sure they were well rested. Wes BBQ'd for the families that were there, and we really had a great time. The babies loved getting so much attention, and especially loved their gifts from the Easter Bunny! We stayed at their house for a few hours, but had to hit the road so the babies could get in that second nap and also so that we'd be home in time to get them fed for dinner. Anyways, here are some of the pictures from the day. Thank you to Nan for taking pictures otherwise I wouldn't be able to share anything!! :) And, as a side note - Carter did have a really cute Easter outfit on, but the pants were big and were literally falling off of him so we took them off. But then he looked silly wearing a long sleeve shirt with no pants - hence why he is just partying it up in his Hawaiian shirt! :)

11 months

Eleven months. My how time flies. In one month, Madilyn and Carter will celebrate their first birthday.. Wow.. Here's what they've been up to this past month:

Madilyn:

*Unofficially -- Madilyn weighs 20.6 lbs. She is 28.25(ish) inches tall.
*Madilyn is close to walking we think because she wants to grab your hands and go. She will often go back and forth from Mommy to Daddy, or even from the gate to one of us. She's definitely got the desire to walk, but she is still working on just standing on her own and holding her balance.
*We feel like Madilyn  has a lot to say because she often speaks in what Rob calls sentences. She will make lots of different noises without stopping, and we're pretty sure she just tried to tell us something..
*Madilyn loves looking at pictures and we have several of them throughout the house. She will often reach her hand out toward a group of pictures because she wants to go look at them.

Carter:

*Unofficially -- Carter weighs 22.3 lbs. He is 29(ish) inches tall.
*Carter is close to walking we think because he is able to stand up on his own and even keep his balance while bouncing a little bit. However, he is just getting to the point of understanding that he can move his feet to get around while standing.
*Carter (as you can see in the picture above) has the cheesiest grin - and it just melts my heart!
*He likes to make inquisitive type noises such as "hmmm?".

Both:
*They both still really love seeing the cats, and often laugh when they walk by.
*They are getting better with self feeding with their finger foods, and more of it is making into their mouth. Some of the things they like to eat are egg yolk, pancakes, cheese and avocado.
*They both prefer veggies over fruits usually.
*Both are cruising around while holding onto the gate, the furniture, or someone's hands. We think both of them are really close to being able to walk and often go back and forth on who we think the first walker will be.
*Madilyn and Carter have both started to learn what climbing is. Sometimes if we are in the cage with them and sitting or laying down, they will start to climb over us. Lately, if there is a toy near the edge of the gate, neither one will hesitate to put their feet on it to stand. This is probably not a good thing!
*Of course, they love to open drawers and cabinets when they have the chance -- we should probably start that baby proofing soon..
*Both babies can point and show you where their tum-tum is (though they don't always do it on command), and it's especially great when they have a t-shirt on because they can lift it up and see it!
*They like to give their stuffed animals kisses -- although it still seems like more of a bite sometimes!
*Looking in the mirror is one of their favorite things to do - especially before their baths!
*We are still working on that whole sharing thing - it never fails that the other baby wants what the other one is playing with!
*Also, when playing in their cage together, almost every day without fail, they somehow end up sitting back to back to each other. Maybe it's that twin connection..

Hopefully there will be another post or two before the next big FIRST BIRTHDAY post and recap of their FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY! I know I for sure have some pretty good videos on my phone, so maybe in the next few days, I'll post those. Anyways -- Happy 11 months, sweet babies!!!
