Look who's talking!

It has been so fun this past month watching Madilyn and Carter start "talking". It is so cute to listen to them make noise that is intentional - and not just crying. I especially love that they even start talking to us during the middle of the night feeding. I really wish I spoke baby so I could know what they are trying to tell us, but that is not a language I am familiar with. Here are two videos of our vocalizing babies in action! Enjoy!

The past two weeks..

Two weeks ago, we had a few visitors stop by the house to spend some time with us! First we had a quick visit with two of our favorite boys - Billy and Tommy. Grand Nan and Grandma B brought them in for a little visit, and we can't wait to have them come visit again! While they were here, we had a nice lunch out at a mexican restaurant, and the boys got to play with the babies, and some legos!

Rob and I also went on our first "trip" without the babies. My in-laws were gracious enough to come in for a night to babysit last minute for us while Rob and I went to Austin for a concert. I think I did ok being away from the babies for the first time - although I am not to proud to say that one night was about all I could handle so far! Lucky for me, I got a few pictures while we were gone to ease  my mind! Here's one, and I think it's safe to say these babies had a good time!

This past week, Rob and I had to take the babies to the doctor to get some ultrasounds done on their hips. Our pediatrician said since I had twins, and they were breech pretty much the whole pregnancy, he thought it would be good to go ahead and check their hips just to be safe. We went to Texas Children's in the Woodlands, and only fed the babies half of their bottle so that if they became fussy during the ultrasound, they would have something to help calm them down. When they called us back, we had Carter go first because he was pretty much asleep. He was calm the whole time - because he fell asleep not long after we put him on the table. Madilyn was awake when we arrived at the hospital and while Carter was getting his scan done. We warned the tech that she might not be quite as easy as Carter. Once Carter was done and it was Madilyn's turn, she ended up doing better than we predicted. She did need her pacifier, but the tech got her scans done quickly. We fed them the rest of their bottles and then headed home. Not long after that, we received a phone call from the doctor's office saying everything looked great. So yay!! It's always nice to hear things look good on the inside and out!

Dr. Visit July 5th - 2 months

So yesterday we went to the doctor to have our 2 month mark check up. We were able to get some official numbers and percentages on how they are growing, but we also had to get their next big round of immunization shots. (Insert my very sad face here...) Let's start with the fun stuff first:

Carter
Height - 23.5" which is in the 69th percentile
Weight - 11lbs 12.6 oz which is in the 49th percentile
Head Circumference - 15.75" which is the 48th percentile

Madilyn
Height - 21.8" which is in the 28th percentile
Weight - 10lbs 1.4oz which is in the 27th percentile
Head Circumference - 15.24" which is the 46th percentile

After the doctor came in and checked all of their vitals and what not, the nurse came back in and had to give them their shots. (Had I thought about it, Mommy should have had a shot or two of something herself before the appointment!!) They had to get 4 shots total - one was oral and then the rest were given in their legs. Carter went first, and was not a happy camper. He wasn't a huge fan of the taste of the first shot but made it through ok. Then Rob had to hold his arms down while the nurse gave him two shots in one leg, and the last one in the other. Once again, not a fan. His face turned pretty red, and there was a bit of crying. Granted, it wasn't AS bad as I thought it would be, but still.. Once they were finished with Carter, we switched babies and I consoled Carter while Madilyn got started. Once again, they started with the oral vaccine. Madilyn wasn't a fan of it either - and actually spit up a LOT. (I would call it throwing up - but I don't completely understand the difference apparently...) Regardless, I was REALLY regretting not taking a shot or two of something to calm ME down - but thankfully, my wonderful husband was a great Dad and kept it together for the both of us. The cleaned Madilyn up, and finished the shots. She wasn't a happy camper either, but once she let out some screams, she fairly quickly fell asleep. We came home and had to keep an eye on them to make sure there weren't any side effects. They were both understandably irritable, and Carter had a slightly raised temperature, but I would say they both did really well.

So -- those are the stats for now. The doctor said they looked great, and are both growing right along track. We are taking them back in 2 months for their 4 month check up and more shots. Since they are growing so well, the doctor said we can start adjusting their feedings a little bit, and see how long they will sleep through the night. Rob and I haven't changed anything yet - but are anxious to see how long they will sleep between feedings at night. I'll be sure to update with that news once we try it for a little while.

I leave you with these cute pictures! :)

2 months old!

I can't believe how quickly time has flown by and the Biddle Babies are already two months old!

Madilyn:
*She makes the funniest faces. She has very expressive eyebrows, and always make us laugh.
*Still loves to be awake so as to not miss anything.
*Pretty good at holding up her head with a little help from us still.

Carter:
*He still likes sleeping, although towards the end of the this 2 month mark, he's been awake more often.
*Has earned the nickname Chunky Monkey because well, he likes to eat!
*Getting better at holding up his head, but granted, it is bigger than Madilyn's.
*Pushes with his legs/feet on the mat which makes him move backwards

Both:
*are so much more aware of the world around them! When they have mat time, they both like to look in the mirror at that other baby and make noise.
*love to look at fans!
*Smile - though, not always on command. We have a much easier time with getting Carter to smile and coo at us - Madilyn has to sit and think about if she wants to or not.
*Sleep really well during the night. We are still feeding them every 4 hours at night and have to wake them up, but we'll be going to the doctor this week and that might be changing.
*Sleep in their own cribs in the nursery
*Moved up to size 1 diapers.
*Enjoy being in the car and usually fall asleep once we start rolling.
*Have just recently learned they can suck on their fists

Happy Two Months, Sweet Babies! Mommy and Daddy love you!
